In July 2021, the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Cybercrime - Internet Child Exploitation Unit, commenced an investigation into alleged child pornography.

The investigation began after police received complaints from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre regarding a person possessing and uploading child pornography in January 2021.

On October 13, 2021, as a result of an ongoing investigation, a search warrant was conducted at a residence in Cambridge.

On October 15, 2021, police arrested an 18-year-old Cambridge male. The male has been charged with two counts of Possession of Child Pornography, and Make Child Pornography. The male was held for a bail hearing.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is a member of the Ontario Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
