Modified summer camps to start July 13; Register Online June 30

Cambridge – With new safety guidelines in place, our recreation team is pleased to announce a new lineup of summer camps for 2020. All camps will run 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. with before and after care (8-9 a.m. and 4-5 p.m.) included in registration.

“We know that many families have been waiting for this announcement,” says Mayor Kathryn McGarry. “Staff have been working tirelessly to put together a program that’s fun and engaging but, first and foremost, safe. I’m really glad that we are able to offer these alternative camps to the community, and that our children will be able to participate in daily camp activities safely. Welcome back, campers!”

The City will be running a lineup of recreation camps, specialty arts camps, and online camps throughout the summer. Recreation camps will have a stronger focus on outdoor play this year and participants can expect smaller camp sizes for all programs.

With limited capacity, camp registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration for all camps opens Tuesday, June 30 at 9 a.m. Parents can register online at links below, or in person at City Hall.

Camps will adhere to the health guidelines that have been set by Waterloo Region Public Health, and the Province of Ontario. These guidelines include lower ratios and capacity, physical distancing, mandatory health screening, and enhanced facility cleaning. For added safety, offsite day trips and pool visits have also been suspended this summer.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, further changes may be necessary at a future date. The City is committed to providing recreation opportunities and will continue working to develop alternative solutions whenever possible.
