Regional Police Officer Arrested Yet Again
WRPS Suspended Officer Arrested in Off-Duty Incident
Waterloo Region, Ontario – On August 24, 2017, investigators with the London Police Service arrested and charged a seventeen year member of the Waterloo Regional Police Service with one count of criminal harassment and one count of breach of undertaking.
The member, a patrol supervisor assigned to North Division, was originally arrested and charged on January 19, 2017 with six counts of Assault, one count of Assault with a Weapon and one count of Sexual Assault. The alleged incidents occurred between May 2013 and March 2015.
The member was then arrested on February 2, 2017, for breaching terms of the earlier release. On June 21, 2017, the member was again arrested for allegedly breaching court orders in relation to the previous release.
The officer appeared in court this afternoon where he was remanded into custody until Monday, August 28th for a bail hearing.
The Waterloo Regional Police Service Professional Standards Branch will be conducting a review of the circumstances.
The member has been suspended with pay as per the requirements of the Police Services Act of Ontario.
The incident is family-related and, accordingly, disclosure of further details, including the name of the member, may identify the victim.
