MP Bryan May Announces Funding for Renovations at rare Charitable Research Reserve
Bryan May, Member of Parliament for Cambridge, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedDev Ontario, today announced that rare Charitable Research Reserve will receive a grant of $61,000 towards their renovation and restoration of the historic Lamb’s Inn building.
This project is one of over 350 projects approved under the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150) in southern Ontario.
“The Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program will preserve and improve our community infrastructure, so that Canadians and their families can enjoy moments of culture, sport, recreation and leisure for years to come. I am proud that rare is receiving this grant,” said Bryan May, Member of Parliament for Cambridge
“We are so excited and grateful to receive Canada 150 infrastructure funding for our project. The program brings much needed support to our community and will enable us to restore the historic Lamb’s Inn to its former glory and get the facility ready for contemporary use shared by all – a celebration of Canada 150 and our heritage right in the heart of the village of Blair,” said Dr. Stephanie Sobek-Swant, Executive Director, rare Charitable Research Reserve
With the addition of $44.4 million in supplementary funding announced in Budget 2016, the total CIP 150 allocation for southern Ontario, being delivered by FedDev Ontario, is $88.8 million. Over 730 projects have been approved in total for CIP 150.
The 150th anniversary of Confederation is a time to celebrate the places across this great country that unite and connect us in our communities. Projects funded through CIP 150 will allow Canadians to enjoy upgraded community facilities such as parks, trails, cultural and community centres. They will also help to create a lasting legacy as Canada prepares to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017.
