Regional Police Make 30 Arrests, Seize Firearms, Prohibitive Weapons And Drugs

Carry Concealed Weapon, Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, and Trafficking,

“The number of weapons, ammunition, and illegal drugs seized during this investigation is concerning to us and to the community,” said Bryan Larkin, Chief of Police. “We have a significant drug addiction problem in our Region, and beyond, which is driving a significant amount of crime and public disorder. I want to assure the community that our police service is committed to solving these crimes and to disrupting illegal drug trafficking and the street level violence that is associated with the drug culture.”

We Can't Arrest Our Way Out Of This...

Chief Larkin stressed that the situation will worsen without help from multiple levels of government, community services as well as assistance from the general public. "We cannot simply arrest our way out of this situation--we need assistance. These arrests are a good start," said Larkin.

The following items were seized as a result of the investigation:

  • four firearms
  • three imitation firearms
  • approximately 427 grams of fentanyl
  • two syringes of liquid fentanyl
  • approximately 156 grams of methamphetamine
  • approximately 39 grams of cocaine powder
  • approximately 1,100 pills, including Hydromorphone and other controlled substances
  • two drug presses
  • one conducted energy weapon
  • one expandable baton
  • four prohibited knives
  • approximately 40 rounds of ammunition
  • one crossbow
  • counterfeit currency
  • more than $12,000 in Canadian currency

The total street value of the drugs seized during this investigation is approximately $140,000.
