There are many reasons for car accidents on Canadian roads, but one that hasn't gotten much attention in Ontario is road design and signage.
As a province we are very fortunate to have generally good roads which have been designed to a reasonable standard over the years. Signage too, is regulated to some extent. However, there are occasions when either or both are not sufficient to protect drivers.
Examples of shortcomings inroad design include improper or missing signage, road lines which have long faded, poorly placed traffic lights, on ramps to highways that are simply too short, or missing warnings of dangerous conditions such as sharp curves, or roads ending.
